Turana Akhundova is an accomplished insurance professional with over a decade of experience in the industry. She currently serves as Deputy Executive Director of the Azerbaijan Insurers Association (AIA), where she plays a pivotal role in overseeing daily operations, executing strategic initiatives, and fostering partnerships that drive the growth of Azerbaijan’s insurance sector.

A native of Ganja, Azerbaijan, Turana earned her degree in Humanities and Social Sciences from Khazar University and broadened her academic experience through a student exchange program at the University of New Hampshire, USA.

Her career journey began at AXA Insurance, where she quickly advanced from a Claims Management Specialist to Head of Quality Management. She later held a key leadership role as Head of the Claims Handling Department at Ateshgah Insurance Company, focusing on efficient claims resolution and customer service excellence.

Turana joined AIA as a Lawyer in 2021, working closely with the Central Bank of Azerbaijan and international partners, including the All-Russian Union of Insurers and the Global Federation of Insurance Associations. Her achievements in this role set the foundation for her promotion to Deputy Executive Director in 2023.

Turana is known for her expertise in insurance operations, regulatory compliance, and quality management, along with her ability to cultivate meaningful connections within the industry. She continues to contribute significantly to AIA’s mission of strengthening Azerbaijan’s insurance landscape and promoting global collaboration.

She is based in Baku, Azerbaijan, where she lives with her family.
