Executive Director
Abas Miskarli was born on September 19, 1989, in the city of Baku.
In 2006, he graduated from Secondary School No. 160. In 2006–2010, he obtained a bachelor’s degree in “Management of Business Areas and Production” from the Azerbaijan State Oil Academy (currently the Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University), and in 2012–2014, he earned a master’s degree in “Business Organization and Management (MBA)” from Western University.
In 2012–2016, he continued his education at the Chartered Insurance Institute in the United Kingdom, specializing in “Technical and Supervisory Management,” and obtained the “Dip.CII” qualification. In 2024–2025, he earned a master’s degree in Finance from the University of Cambridge.
He began his professional career in 2007 at “Azerbaijan International Insurance Company” OJSC, where he served as the Head of the Corporate Insurance Department from 2007 to 2012. From 2012 to 2015, he worked as Director of the Underwriting and Reinsurance Department at “Alfa Sığorta” OJSC; from 2015 to 2017, as Director of the Corporate Sales Department at “AZSIĞORTA” OJSC; and in 2018, as Director of the Underwriting and Reinsurance Department at “Standard Insurance” OJSC. Since 2019, he has continued his career at “A-Qroup Insurance Company” OJSC, where he served as Deputy Chairman of the Management Board from 2019 to 2021 and as Chairman of the Management Board from 2021 to 2023. In 2025, he worked as a Strategic Advisor on entry into the European Union market and ESG (Environmental, Social, and Corporate Governance) matters at the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China. Since 2023, he has also been the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of “BUTA Insurance and Reinsurance Broker”.
On February 20, 2026, based on the results of the voting held at the meeting dedicated to the results of 2025 of the General Assembly of Founders of the “Azerbaijan Insurers Association” Public Union, Abas Ilgar oglu Miskarli was elected to the position of Executive Director of the Union.
